Ric Richardson

Ric Richardson is a Professor of Community and Regional Planning at the University of New Mexico. He has been Dean of the School of Architecture and Planning, Associate Dean, and the Director of the Community and Regional Planning Program. Before joining the UNM faculty, Ric was a cabinet member and Commissioner of Planning for the State of South Dakota, Assistant Director of Planning for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, and a planning consultant in California. He is a Senior Associate with the Consensus Building Institute, the Lincoln Institute for Land Policy, and the Public Disputes Program at the Harvard Law School.

Ric's expertise is in facilitating consensus about local and regional land use decisions, managing regulatory negotiations and designing ways to institute collaborative planning. He has advised citizens, business leaders and government officials in face-to-face negotiations to on development initiatives, land use and regulatory changes. He is an experienced mediator in resolving natural resources land use disputes.
